Lessons From Life

What have I learned, in my life on Earth?
My wisdom and strength, are of no worth.
I must be humble, I must be meek,
If the Lord’s guidance, I truly seek.

I must ne’er think, “I’ll do it on my own,”
If I e’er want, God’s will to be shown.
I must have faith, and trust Him each day,
And I must love Him, and Him obey.

The Lord many troubles, will permit,
But He’ll always help, by His Spirit.
His Promise “I will not leave or forsake,”
But a commitment to Him, first we must make.

Tho’ temptation and trials, oft are great,
Vast comfort from Him, won’t e’er be late.
His loving Presence, is e’er so near,
We must have faith, not worry or fear.

At times His will, we can’t comprehend,
But if we love and obey, He’s our Friend.
Lessons from life can sometimes be hard,
But from His Throne of grace, we’re ne’er barr’d.

If we are God’s child, and love Him true,
He will always be there, for me and you.
We must be humble, we must be meek,
If the Lord’s guidance, we truly seek.

Such a great comfort, to know He’s there,
So encouraging, to know He cares.
No matter our trouble, no matter our pain,
Christ’s love, strength, wisdom and help, we can gain.

Jam.4:7,10; Ps.32:8; Hab.2:4; Rom.1:17; Gal.3:11, Heb.13:5; 1 Jn.3:9;
Jn.1:12-13; 14:15,23; 15:13-15; 16:13; Luke 12:28; Ep.2:8; 2 Cor.1:3-4; 1 Pet.4:19; Mat.6:30; 8:10,26; 17:20; 21:21; 22:37.

The older I get, the faster time goes by. Another year has gone by and we stand at doorway of another brand new year. It is the time that so many people make New Year’s resolutions. The vast majority of those ‘promises to self’ are never fully realized.
What “lessons” have you learned so far in your life on Earth? Are you one who thinks “I can do it myself, I do not need God?” Many have this attitude. But my friend, you can NEVER get to Heaven on your own.
Are you one who gripes and complains about everything and blames God for all your troubles? There are millions in this group. A child of God accepts difficulties and praises God for His always being there to help them.
Those trials and temptations come to one and all. How you handle them is up to you. His awesome Presence is always near, please do not ever forget this. When you go in prayer you will get through the first time, no busy signals, no recordings you cannot talk to. He is there for you 24/7!
Yes, there are times that His will is hard to comprehend. Some times you may think His reasoning is way off. Don’t believe that. He is NEVER wrong about what He wants for you in life. Trust and obey Him and His Throne of Grace is wide open to you.
What about pride? Are you proud and conceited, instead of humbling yourself before Him? James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. (KJV)
If you are God’s child (Jn.1:12-13; 3:3-8), and if you really love Him, you will obey Him. I have learned that one of the greatest comforts I have is knowing that He really loves me and cares about me. What abundant blessings come from this awesome God!
May I suggest that one of your New Year’s resolutions be, that you spend more time with Him this year. You will not regret it.

Psalm 1:1-6  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. [2] But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. [3] And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. [4] The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. [5] Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. [6] For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. (KJV)

LORD, I LOVE YOU

Lord, I love You, beyond anything,
Honor and reverence, from within me spring.
Grateful praise is always on my lips,
For You reach out to me, each time I slip.

Lord, I love You, above anyone,
Blessed Saviour, only begotten Son!
How I praise You Lord, for who You are,
My Guiding Light, and Bright Morning Star.

Lord Jesus, I truly do love Thee,
My Redeemer, who gives victory.
Abundant praise Lord, to You is due,
Our God of Hope, who is always true,

Wondrous Saviour, love to me You’ve taught,
With Your precious Blood, my soul You bought.
It is to me, a necessity,
To praise You for blessings, granted so free.

Lord, I love You, ‘cause You first loved me,
There is none other, I love more than Thee.
I believe ev’ry word, You do say,
Such a blessing it is, each new day.

One day I will see, Your precious Face,
When I come home, to my “prepared place.”
Then I shall live with You, for e’er more,
And then I will praise You, on Heav’n’s shore!

Mat.10:37; 22:37; John 3:16; 14:15-16, 23; Eph.6:24; 1 Pet.1:8; Lu.1:79; John 1:4,9; 8:12; 12:46; Eph.5:14; 1 Jn.1:5; Rev.21:23; Mat. 20:28; Gal.3:13; 4:4-5; Acts 20:28; Heb.9:12; 1 Pet.1:19; Rev. 5:9  1 Cor. 1:30; John 16:33; Rom.8:37; 2 Cor. 2:14; 1 John 4:4;John 14:1-6, Rev.21.

I want to ask you some questions, for your sincere consideration!
Matthew 10:37  He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. (KJV) . . . Do you love Jesus more that anyone or anything?

John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (KJV) . . . Do you believe that Almighty God in Heaven really loves you?

John 14:15  If ye love me, keep my commandments. (KJV) . . . Do you really love the Lord Jesus? Do you keep His commandments?  . . . WHAT are His commandments? Jesus' commandments to Christians follow.
Matthew 22:37-38 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. (KJV) . . . Do you love the Lord Jesus with all your heart, soul and mind?
Matthew 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. (KJV) . . . This verse resembles Lev.19:18 in importance, dignity and purity. This had not been asked by the lawyer, but Jesus took time to acquaint him with the body of the whole law. For more on this, see Mat.19:19 and Rom.13:9. There is no greater commandment than these according to Jesus. Matthew 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (KJV) . . . They cover the whole of the Old Testament; the Law and the Prophets! They are the fountain of all.
1 Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: (KJV) . . . Do you love Him even though you have not seen Him?
John 14:1-6  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV) . . . What does this say to you? Does it prove God's love to you? God CANNOT lie! Jesus is God! He is saying that He has gone on to prepare a place for you, and that He shall return to get you, so you can be with Him for eternity. Then He clearly states that He is the ONLY Way to Heaven, where God the Father is!
1 Peter 1:4-5 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (KJV) . . . Do you really see what this is saying? This is what Jesus is speaking of in the previous verses. It does not get any better than this! Are you going to Heaven?

LORD, LET ME PLEASE YOU

Lord, let me please You, in all that I do,
Grant me faith, for without it, I can’t please You!
Lord, let me fear You, revere You always,
For You will protect me, until that great day!

Lord, let me trust You, each step of the way,
If I rely on You, I shan’t go astray.
Lord, let me love You, as You love me,
Then some sweet day I’ll see You, for eternity!

Lord, let me obey You, each hour of the day,
Willingly, freely, and loving You always.
Lord, give me patience, my burdens to bear,
Let me remember, You really do care!

Lord, give me strength, as I go thru’ the day,
With You beside me, I can go the whole way.
Lord, give me contentment, don’t let me complain,
For godliness with contentment, is great gain!

Lord, give me peace, don’t let me stir up strife,
Grant me perfect peace, the rest of my life.
Lord, give me much joy, in all that I do,
And I’ll have eternal joy, thanks to You!

Lord, let me serve You, equip me to do so,
And keep me faithful and willing, as I go.
Lord, let me please You, in all that I do,
Grant me these blessings, to help me please You!

Gal.5:22-23; John 15:1-14)

NO Pleasing God, Without Faith!
So, WHAT is Faith?

Faith is: believing, confidence, assurance, reliance, trust. The opposite of faith is unbelief, doubt, distrust. Faith simply persuades or convinces our mind that something is true. Faith accepts and believes that the Bible is the absolute Truth.
Faith is a special act which unites us to Christ, and it has as its Object the Person and the Work of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 7:38; Acts 16:31). This is the specific act of faith by which we sinners, are justified before God (Rom.3:22, 25; 5:1; Gal. 2:16; Phil. 3:9; John 3:16-36; Acts 10:43; 16:31). In this act of faith, believers rest on Christ alone as Mediator in ALL His offices. This trust and belief in the Truth will always produce a deep sense of guilt for our sin, because it gives us a clear view of Christ, with a favorable will, and a loving heart that trusts and rests in Christ alone.
By faith the believer directly and immediately claims Christ as his own. Faith is what makes Christ ours. Faith is not a work which God graciously accepts instead of perfect obedience, but faith is the hand by which we willingly take hold of the Person and Work of our Redeemer, knowing He is the only ground of our salvation. Faith is necessary for our salvation (Mark 16:16), not because there is any merit in it, but because in it the sinner willingly takes the place given to him by God. He/she agrees with the will of God, and what God has in mind for us.
Faith is the simple fact that if God says something, it shall come to pass. Faith rests on “Thus saith the Lord.” We must believe that God cannot change and cannot lie (Ps.33:11; 102:27; Mal.3:6; Heb.1:12; 13:8; Tit.1:2; Jam.1:17). The Holy Word of God encourages and gives boldness to sinners  to personally  . . . one on One . . . accept Christ as God’s Gift, and to embrace Him as his own. It is God, in His Word, who has revealed Himself in His works, and especially in the cross. We must believe God for His Word’s sake, but also for His Name’s sake, for He never lies (Titus 1:2). Faith in Christ secures SO much for the believer; freedom from condemnation, or justification before God (Rom.3:24; 5:1,9); participation in the life that is in Christ, the divine life (John 14:19; Romans 6:4-10; Ephes. 4:15-16); “peace with God” (Rom.5:1); and sanctification (Acts 15:9; 26:18; Gal.5:6). Any  and all who truly trust and believe in Christ will have eternal live in Heaven (John 6:37,40; 10:27-28; Rom.8:1). Faith = the Gospel (Acts 6:7; Rom.1:5; Gal.1:23; 1 Tim. 3:9; Jude 1:3).
Faith is a firm confidence that allows us to fully admit to God’s Truth. It is a belief and hope in God and His Word so that we gladly respond to the message of salvation (John 1:12). Faith is being sure that what you hope for shall take place, even though we can’t see it or understand it (Heb.11:1-40).
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.(KJV)
Many Christians who know what faith is, have a hard time trying to define or explain it. Even though faith is a simple thing, it is quite difficult to define, explain, preach, teach or write about. Faith is extremely important in the life of a Christian. Faith decides where we will spend eternity. Our soul should tremble before our living God. Our soul should praise and thank God for making salvation available to "whosoever" (anyone, you, me) by faith.

NAIL SCARRED HANDS

Have you ever thought ‘bout our Saviour?
Dying on that Cross; so sinless and pure?
I oft’ think of His nail scarred Hands,
Scarred; for us, to loose sin’s hard bands.

I’ve thought about His Hands, with those scars,
That mankind, His holy Body did mar.
He suffered death that belonged to me,
Shed His precious Blood, to set me free!

Each and every person does sin,
There’s NO way, alone, God’s grace you’ll win.
Without Jesus, you’re God’s enemy!
You’ll end up in Hell, for eternity.

But there is some very good news, friend,
Hell does not have to be your final end!
This ‘JESUS’, with those nail scarred Hands,
Can give Heaven’s key; and loose sin’s bands.

Only JESUS can relieve God’s wrath,
Without Him, you’re on Hell’s path.
Only trust in Jesus makes you God’s friend,
Only Jesus, your soul can defend!

The only man-made things in Heav’n afar,
Are on those precious Hands; those nail scars.
Place your hand in His nail scarred Hand,
He’ll save your soul; He’ll loose your bands.

(1 P.1:18-20; Jn.20:25-29; Ro.3:23; 1:18; Jn.3:15-18,36;
Ep.5:6; Jam.4:4)

What is the meaning of the cross?

The meaning of the cross is simple, it is death. In ancient times, the cross was a way of putting people to death . . . it was a most torturous and painful way. The word "crucifixion" is Latin “to fix to a cross.” Criminals were either tied or nailed to a wooden cross and left to hang until they were dead. Death would be slow and agonizing.
But, because of Christ and His death on the cross, the meaning of the cross is completely different.
In Christianity, the cross is the crossroads or junction of God’s love and His justice. Christ Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. The reference to Jesus as the Lamb of God points back to the institution of the Jewish Passover in Exodus 12. The Israelites were commanded to sacrifice an unblemished lamb and spread the blood of that lamb on the doorposts of their homes. The blood would be the sign for the Angel of Death to “pass over” that house, leaving those covered by blood in safety. When Jesus came to John to the baptized, John recognized Him and cried: “"Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (Jn.1:29), thus identifying Him and God’s plan for Him to be sacrificed for sin (our sin).
The death of Christ Jesus was foretold in the Old Testament many, many years before He died (Isaiah 53:8; Daniel 9:26; Zech. 13:7). So, just WHY did He have to die? When I became a Christian, this was one of my biggest questions. God NEVER does anything by chance. He has reasons for everything He does. Because of His great love for us is the reason that His only begotten Son had to die.

  • #1. Jesus' death was necessary for our redemption. Luke 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: [KJV] Jesus’ Words. The Bible clearly stated that the Messiah must suffer and die and rise again from the dead on the third day. Jesus’ role as a prophet was foretold in Deut. 18:15-20; His sufferings were prophesied in Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53; His resurrection was predicted in Psalm 16:9-11 and Isaiah 53:10-11.
  • #2. Jesus death was acceptable, as a Sacrifice to God. Matthew 20:28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. [KJV] Jesus’ Words. A “ransom” was the price paid to release a slave from bondage. Jesus often told His disciples that He would have to die, but here He told them why . . . to redeem all people from the bondage of sin and death. The disciples thought that as long as Jesus was alive, He could save them. But Jesus revealed that only His death would save them and the world. The Lord speaks of His death in terms applied to the sacrifices of the Old Testament. He was the Perfect Sacrifice for the sins of men, a True and Sufficient Sacrifice, and the ONLY Sacrifice that God the Father would accept. He was a ransom for many, and my friend, He is enough for all the world IF they were so inclined.

Jesus’ death was voluntary (Isa.53:12; Mat.26:53; John 10:17-18). Jesus’ death and resurrection, as part of God’s plan for the salvation of the world, were under God’s full control (Acts 2:23-24). No one could kill Jesus without His consent. No one could demand His life of Him. He laid it down, freely and willingly, for our redemption. He offered Himself to be our Saviour. He didn’t have to leave the glory and safety of Heaven, knowing all too well what was in store for Him; but He came! For us sinners, He came! He offered Himself for the Supreme Sacrifice. If you do not know Jesus for the full pardon of your sins, turn to Him today. He’s waiting with open arms.

Beatitudes In Our Life

If you’re not “poor in spirit,” Hell awaits,
On your own, you’ll not access Heav’n’s gates.
Jesus you need, you must know in your heart,
Accept Him my friend, and never depart.

If you don’t mourn for sin, you have God’s wrath,
You are walking on a dark, dang’rous path.
You must instead walk, in God’s glorious Light,
Walking with Jesus, makes all things so bright.

You will not please God, if you are not meek,
Humbly, His love and mercy, you must seek.
Arrogance and pride, must not be your way,
You cannot inherit the Earth this way.

If you don’t hunger and thirst, for God’s Word,
Christ Jesus is not your Master and Lord.
In our spiritual life, we all must grow,
To have God’s blessings, to us always flow.

We must be merciful, this God reveals,
For God’s mercy to us, our soul does heal.
If we show mercy, mercy we shall obtain,
When we “do unto others,” we reap great gain.

Only the pure in heart, will e’er see God,
As on the Earth, the narrow road we trod.
Purity we have, comes from Christ alone,
This in God’s Word, is v’ry clearly shown.

If you argue and fight, you don’t strive for peace,
This wrong way of living, for you must cease.
You must instead, a peacemaker be,
Living each day, with love and humility.

If we are persecuted, for Christ’s Name,
As unbelievers abuse us, trying to shame.
We must remember, we are bless’d indeed,
Our blessings in Heav’n, will always exceed.

Matthew 5:2-12 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, 3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. 10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. (KJV)
The Gospel of Christ is NOT found in the Sermon on the Mount. There is absolutely NO mention of the death and resurrection of Christ. Some people say “I live by the Sermon on the Mount.” If a person is honest and will READ the Sermon on the Mount, he will KNOW that he is NOT living up to it. The Sermon on the Mount is God’s standard and we all come short of it.
Since there is NO Gospel message in the Sermon on the Mount, it is tragic to give it to an unsaved person as a standard of conduct, and to tell him that if he tries to measure up to it, he is a Christian. The Sermon on the Mount is Law lifted to the highest degree. Man could not keep the Law in the Old Testament, so how can he possibly keep, in his own strength, the Sermon on the Mount which is elevated by Jesus, to an even higher degree?
The primary purpose of the Sermon on the Mount is to set before people the law of the Kingdom. Matthew speaks about the King who has come to present Himself. John the Baptist was His forerunner, and the King called disciples to follow Him. Here He announces the law of the Kingdom. This is the declaration of the King and the rules of the Prince of Peace. The Christian who calls Jesus Christ “Lord,” will strive to do what He commands, but he can obey only in the power of the Holy Spirit. The Sermon on the Mount cannot make men obedient to Christ, only the Gospel of the grace of God can make men obey, along with the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Sermon on the Mount needs to be preached to bring conviction to the hearts of men. It tells us that we have sinned. It tells us that NONE of us are righteous and that we all have come short of God’s glory (Rom.3:10,23).
We should take the standards set down in the Sermon on the Mount and consider them in the light of other Scriptures. Only here can you find Christ’s definition of murder and adultery. Are you living by it? The Sermon on the Mount says that if you are angry with your brother you are guilty of murder. Are you keeping that one? What about: whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart, are you keeping that one? IF you look at the Sermon on the Mount honestly, it will bring you to a Saviour who died for you on the cross. The Sermon on the Mount sets before us great principles and high goals. We need to know them, because  they reveal just how far short that we come.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME

There’s no place like home, most people say,
We find such comfort there, in these days.
We can be ourselves, not put on airs,
There, we can cast away, many cares.

Our home here on Earth; it will not last,
All that we own, one day will be past.
We’ll leave this Earth, for another place,
Will you, my friend, see Heav’n, by God’s grace?

There’s no place like home; that one that waits,
If you know Christ, He’ll open the gate!
It will be a mansion, plain and true,
If you know Christ, He’ll reserve it for you!

No more death, nor sorrow, no more pain,
And to all our needs, God will sustain.
No more crying; all tears gone of this day,
For former things are all passed away.

God will keep us in comfort and bliss,
None of the things of Earth, will we miss.
The ecstasy of Heav’n can’t compare,
The greatest joy of Earth, won’t ev’n fare.

There’s no place like the Home we’re goin’ to,
But it’s reserved, for only a “few”.
Only Christ Jesus can grant access,
To the future Home, of so much promise.

Rev.ch.21; 22:1-5; Mt.7:13-14; Is.54:1)

"What is Heaven like?"

No mortal man knows what Heaven is a really like. We must depend on what God tells us in His Holy Word. The Bible is the only place we can get any information about Heaven. The word “heaven” is found 274 times in the New Testament and 441 times in the Old Testament. The Bible refers to three heavens (2 Cor.12:2). The apostle Paul was “caught up to the third heaven,” but he was forbidden to reveal what he saw there.
IF a third heaven exists, and according to the Bible, it does, there has to be two other heavens. The first is most often referred to in the Old Testament as the “sky” or air. This is the heaven that contain clouds, where the birds fly through (Mat.8:20). The second heaven is farther out in space, which is the home of the stars, planets, and other celestial objects (Gen.1:14-18).
The third heaven, I believe is the dwelling place of God. This location is not revealed. I have wondered if Job 26:7 might be a clue. Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. (KJV) . . . It really does not matter where Heaven is! It is some where, and God and His Son Jesus are there, and some day I shall also be there (Jn.20:31; 1 Jn.5:13).
Jesus promised to prepare a place for all TRUE Christians in Heaven. John 14:2-3 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (KJV)
Anyone, whosoever, whobelieves in Christ shall never perish but have eternal life. John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (KJV)
The apostle John was privileged to see and give us an account of the heavenly city. (Rev.21:10-27).  Other than John's words to us in the Book of Revelation, we know very little. John tells us that Heaven (the new earth) possesses the “glory of God” (Rev.21:11), because it houses the very Presence of God.
Heaven is a place of “no mores.” There will be no more tears, no more pain, and no more sorrow (Rev.21:4). There will be no more separation, because death will be conquered. We will be face to face with the Lamb of God who loved us SO and sacrificed Himself so that we can enjoy His Presence in Heaven for eternity.
Our Heavenly Home shall be beauty and bliss beyond compare! The city is constructed with brilliant gems and crystal clear jasper. Heaven has twelve gates (Rev.21:12), and twelve foundations (Rev.21:14). The paradise of the Garden of Eden shall be restored, and  the river of the water of life flows freely from God's Throne and the tree of life shall be available once again, yielding fruit each month and  leaves that “heal the nations” (Rev.21:1-2). No matter how wonderful Heaven illustrated, the reality of our Home, is beyond the ability of finite man to describe. 1 Cor. 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. (KJV)
One last Passage: 1 Peter 1:4-5 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (KJV) . . . It does not get better than this! God does NOT lie. Believe Him. If you know Christ as your Saviour, this inheritance is yours!

ONE DAY AT A TIME

No need to worry, with You so near,
For I have nothing at all to fear.
One day at a time, this I must learn,
For Your guidance, I truly must yearn.

One day at a time, and worry not,
Strength and wisdom from You, must be sought.
We know not what tomorrow may bring,
But with Your Presence near, our heart can sing.

What comes next year, next month or next week,
We can’t control, but You we can seek.
Having faith in Christ, God’s only Son,
Live one day at a time, each a special one.

Things that worry us, might never be,
Much of our life’s stress, comes for worry.
One day at a time, is all we need to bear,
Trust in the Lord, He really does care.

Don’t worry ‘bout things beyond your control.
But rather say, “It is well with my soul.”
Keep your eyes on Jesus, live for today,
Let Him guide you, each step of the way.

Worry can cause us to forfeit peace,
Don’t let fellowship with Christ ever cease.
Trust Him, you can live life so fine,
When you are living one day at a time.

Gen.7:16; 21:7; Ps. 37:8-9; 127:2; Pro.20:24; Mat.10:16-42; Luke 12:22-34; 22:24; Phil. 4:6-7. 1 Peter 5:7.  Mat.6:25 God, who created life in you can be trusted with the details of your life. Matt.6:26 Worrying about the future hinders your efforts for today. Mat.6:27 Worrying hurts more than it helps. Matt. 6:28-30 God never ignores those who love Him and depend on Him.
Mat. 6:31-32 Worry reveals a lack of faith in God. Mat.6:33 There are real challenges God wants us to pursue, and worrying keeps us from them. Mat 6:34 Living one day at a time keeps us from being consumed with worry. 1.Where can I go when I feel down? To God in prayer.
2. How can God help me? Ask and you shall receive. 3. What should I do when I feel sad? Know that Jesus is near.

Worry is agitation, anxiety, confusion, distress, disquietness, distress, disturbed, dread, doubt, fear, fretting, misgiving, mistrust, torment, upset, etc. Worry is a very self-destructive emotion. It shows a lack of faith (doubt, which is sin, Hebrews 11:6) on our part, that God truly does loves us and is always in control. We should not worry but instead trust God, giving ourselves completely over to Him. Any time you dwell on your problems, you will become anxious and angry, and quite often the things you worry about never even happen. A favorite expression of a lady in one of my classes is: "You are crossing bridges that have never been built." If, on the other hand, you concentrate on God and His goodness, you will find peace and contentment deep within.
Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. (KJV)
1 Peter 5:7  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (KJV)
Do not worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow for you may never come!

God’s Mysterious Ways

On Aug. 9, 2002, God gave me a poem, “One Day At A Time.” That afternoon we received a letter from a new boy, an inmate (22 years old). He told me that he had once been a member of a prison gang, but he had found the Lord. Now he was in Jesus’ gang, and now he would serve the Lord. Praise the Lord!

I wrote a letter back to him and enclosed “One Day At A Time.”      A few days later I received another letter from him. He wanted to share something with me. He hoped it would be OK.
          What he wrote to me:
“My neighbor recently accepted Jesus Christ in his heart in order to receive salvation. But, as you well know, Satan doesn’t like that.”

He went on to say that the new convert had been having all kinds of dreams of temptations. He asked God how long he would have to put up with it; for months, years, the rest of his life???

“Well, you know how God speaks to us with a still, small, quiet voice; inside we hear Him. Well, God spoke to him and said just two words . . . one day. One day?? he wondered, so he prayed again, and realized it meant to take it one day at a time.”

“Then the mail was brought to my cell; your letter and your beautiful poems. One was called ‘One Day At A time.’ I couldn’t help but smile. I told my neighbor, “Look! listen to this poem! As I read it to him, he screamed, “That’s awesome!”

“Now what are the chances of that happening? Just like many stories we’ve heard before. It was God’s way of confirming what the Holy Spirit told my neighbor.”

DOUBTS
Doubts, are simply traitors to our soul,
“I can’t” is born of doubt, that took control!
But faith is a ‘flame,’ deep down inside,
We should always seek, for faith to abide!

Doubts are really betrayers to our heart,
Doubt in our life, should not be a part!
All our excuses, of doubt are born,
Faith instead, God’s children should adorn!

Doubts are truly a negative power,
Cramping and crippling, hour after hour!
Satan wants us to doubt God, alway,
Don’t give in, and become the devil’s prey!

Doubts, will absolutely make you fail,
Your common sense, will be to no avail!
Unbelief makes you God’s enemy,
God wants us to believe; you and me!

Doubts will keep you from eternal success,
For the ‘Ladder’ to Heav’n, you can’t access!
Christ is this ‘Ladder;’ you must believe!
Throw away your doubt, and Him receive!

Doubt is a sin, that will lead you to Hell,
And there for eternity, you shall dwell!
Open your heart’s door, to Jesus today!
Total faith in Christ, is the only way!

 (Mat.6:30; 8:26; 14:31; 16:8; 17:17; Mk.4:40; 9:19; Lk.8:25; 24:25; Jn.20:27; Jam.1:6). James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (KJV)

Doubt is feeling unsettled in an opinion or belief; uncertain, undecided; to be likely to disbelieve; to be uncertain about something; to feel distrust; to waver in an opinion or belief; unsure; giving rise to suspicion; questioning. Doubt is the opposite of faith.
What can I do to overcome doubt?

  • (1) submit to God,
  • (2) pray for strength to resist,
  • (3) run, sometimes literally, and
  • (4) say NO when confronted with what we know is wrong. Blessings and rewards wait for those who don’t give in when tempted.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. [KJV]

  • God does not lie.
  • God does not forget to fulfill any of His Promises.
  • God does not change His Words.
  • God always fulfills His Promises.

We can trust the ENTIRE Bible because it contains the words of a holy, trustworthy, and unchangeable God.
Matthew 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? [KJV] . . . When our faith falters, it doesn’t mean we have failed. When Peter’s faith faltered, he reached out to Christ, the only One who could help. He was afraid, but he still looked to Christ. When troubles surround you and you begin to doubt in Christ’s Presence or ability to help, please remember that He is the only One who can really help.
Matthew 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. [KJV] Jesus’ statement that if we have faith and do not doubt, does not mean literal "mountain-moving" acts. He was NOT suggesting we perform magic, or miracles. He was making a strong point about the disciples’ (and our) lack of faith. We face many ‘mountains’ (troubles) in our daily lives. Have you talked to God about them? How strong is your faith? Luke 17:5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. [KJV] . . . We are permitted to ask for more faith. It pleases God when we do.
Matthew 28:17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. [KJV] If you see our Lord Jesus with an eye of faith, you will worship Him. Yet at times, the faith of God’s children may be weak and wavering. Our faith is never on the same level. One day it will be up . . . the next day it seems to drop. But Christ gave such convincing proofs of His resurrection, it makes our faith triumph over our doubts. As this verse states, there will always be those who doubt Christ.
Acts 10:17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate, [KJV] . . . The prejudices of Peter against the Gentiles, would have prevented his going to Cornelius, unless the Lord had prepared him. God knows what services are before us, and knows exactly how to equip us. We should never doubt the Lord when He asks something of us.
1 Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. [KJV] . . . We must pray in love; without wrath, malice, or anger at any person. We must pray in faith, without doubting, and without arguments, trusting God completely! God has never told a lie, nor will He ever tell a lie. God cannot lie! Trust Him!

DOWNSTREAM
We don’t know what lies ahead, downstream,
Maybe a nightmare, or beautiful dream.
We can’t see ahead, around the bend,
An enemy might await, or a friend.

Downstream could be rapids, raging wild,
Or calm, still waters, ever so mild.
We never know what may come in life,
It could be peace and joy, or maybe strife.

In life we know not, what lies ahead,
One day happiness, the next one dread.
Life is like a river, always flowing,
What’s downstream, we have no way of knowing.

Living life God’s way, gives peace and rest,
Ev’n tho’ at times, we’ll be put to the test.
All our troubles may not disappear,
But His loving Presence, is always near.

Wonder of wonders, He’s always there,
Because our Saviour truly does care.
Downstream we cannot know what will be,
God knows, but to us, it’s a mystery.

Trust the Lord Jesus with your v’ry all,
And He’ll reach out His Hand, when you fall.
We need not worry, ‘bout what’s downstream,
For Jesus will aid us, when Him we esteem.

None of us know what lies ahead, even an hour from now.
We are to keep watch over our souls.
Psalm 141:3 Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. (KJV)
Matthew 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. (KJV)
Mark 13:33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. (KJV)

Some good suggestions:
No one can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start anew today, and make a new ending.
Sometimes the smallest decision can change your life forever.
Dream as if you will live forever, but live as if you will die today.
When you know that God’s Hand is in everything; you can leave everything in God’s Hand.
God always gives you enough strength for the next step.
The most humble work becomes holy when it’s done for God.
Only when we realize just how weak we really are, can we draw strength from God.
God chooses what we go through; we choose how we go through it.
We find courage to stand when we kneel before the Lord.
Our sin is great; but God’s grace is greater.
You can’t put your sins behind you until you face them.
You don’t need to see the way; if you follow the One who is the Way.
Many books can inform; but only the Bible can transform.
Kind words are always the right kind.
Courage is fear that has said its prayers.
True love demands nor expects nothing in return.
Dark fears flee in the light of God’s Presence.
Don’t break the silence unless you can improve it.
We think too little of God when we think too much of ourselves.
When God is on your side, you can never be outnumbered.
Life’s darkest path can never dim the light of God’s love.
Living without faith in God is like driving in dense fog.
When you praise God in trials, your burdens become blessings.
Self examination is one test from which no Christian is excused.
Some troubles come from wanting our own way, while others come from getting our way.
A good attitude starts with gratitude to God.
A hypocrite is a person who is not himself on Sunday morning.
The fence of unbelief stops us from enjoying the open fields of God’s grace.
Worry is like a rocking chair; it gives you something to do but it won’t get you anywhere.
Losing your temper is no way to get rid of it.
Nothing is hopeless when you know the God of hope.
The devil’s temptations bring out the worst in us; but God’s tests bring out the best.
Life’s challenges are not meant to break us, just bend us in God’s direction.
Why we are here is important; but where we are going is critical!
If you intend to ‘follow’ the Lord; you must ‘walk’ with Him.
It is far better to be poor and walk by faith, than to be rich and walk by sight.
It’s not what or how much you say, but how much you care that brings the most comfort.

Wonderful Words
Psalm 73:24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. (KJV)

October 2014 Monthly Message

DON’T BELLYACHE
Do you gripe and complain when things go awry?
Did you consider instead, to look to the sky?
Our help cometh from our Creator, the Lord,
Turn unto Him, and your prayer will be heard.

Do you ever find yourself down in the dumps?
Do others around you think you are a grump?
Our help cometh in the Name of the Lord,
Just call on Him, and things won’t be so hard.

Do you feel sorry for yourself, time and again?
He’s always cared for you, from way back when.
God hasn’t promised us an easy path to go,
But He will be with us; a blessing to know!

Do you tell God what you think He should do?
Do you think He’s not smart enough to construe?
He knows better that you ever can or will,
Why don’t you turn to Him, and learn to be still?

We should never question His Almighty will,
Let Him have His way; He will fill the bill!
“He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased,”
All His children He does love, and tries to appease.

His Book states: “Ye shall not tempt the Lord thy God,”
We are not to murmur, says His Holy Word.
So we should not bellyache, gripe or complain.
It could be so much worse, then think of the strain!

All things work together for good, if you love God,
It’s not good that we God tempt, and always prod.
He will only give His very best to you,
Times of stress makes us strong, He is always true.

(Ps.34:5; 37:7; 40:1; 115:3; 123:3; 135:6; 146:6; Pro.19:3; Ex.33:14; Deut.6:16; Is.29:24; 43:2,13; 1 Co.1:19;2:6-8; 3:19; 10:9-10; Ac.7:55; 1 Tim.5:5;  Heb.13:5; Ro.1:22; Jam.3:15; Phil.2:14; Jn.6:43)

I am going to take Israel as an example of "belly-aching" . . . but my friend, they are not alone. I am sure that you have belly-ached more than once to God. I know that I have!  Every one of us are guilty of complaining and murmuring against Almighty God. May I say that we all should BEWARE! He will tolerate just so much of our distrust and lack of faith in Him, then he will lower the boom, like He did on Israel. Griping about things in our lives will NOT make them better. Israel most certainly provoked God by their murmuring, and God came down on them hard (Ps.78:18,41,56; Ps.95:9-11; Ps.106:13-14).
God was good to Israel
Read chapter 16 of the Book of Exodus.
Deut 29:5 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot. (KJV)
Psalm 78:16-17 He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers. 17 And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness. (KJV)
Psalm 78:27-29 He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea: 28 And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations. 29 So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire; (KJV)
Murmuring
Num. 11:33-34  And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague. 34 And he called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted. (KJV)
Num. 14:27-31 How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.
28 Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: 29 Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me,
30 Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun. 31 But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.
(KJV)
Num. 16:3 And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? (KJV) . . . Protest movements and marches are NOT new.
Num. 21:4-6  And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way. 5 And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
(KJV)
Psalm 106:25 But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD. (KJV)
1 Cor. 10:10  Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. (KJV) . . . Good advice from the apostle Paul!

Do YOU belly-ache far too much?

DO YOU THANK HIM??

Do you thank Him for His wondrous love?
Do you praise our God in Heaven above?
Are you grateful for what He’s done for you?
Only our Lord, could show love this true!

Do you thank Him for His love each day?
Do you praise Him for His excellent ways?
Are you glad He’s called you to be His own?
Only God could make such great love known!

Do you thank Him for His amazing grace?
Do you praise Him for your sins erased?
Do you show honor to His Holy Name?
God gives great promises we can claim!

Do you thank Him for His love divine?
Do you praise Him for His care so fine?
Do you go to Him in heart-felt prayer?
For ALL His children, He’s always there!

His wonderful love is everlasting,
A wondrous ‘gift’ from Him; such a blessing!
Heaven is ours, ‘tis as good as done,
Because of the love of God’s own Son!

DEVOTION

True, sincere and earnest devotion radically changes people’s lives. Devotion is affection for God, loyalty to God and  commitment to God. We must have devotion to God before we can praise Him and thank Him. But so often, even the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper becomes a mere religious performance, with no meditation nor prayer to prepare for it. We need devotion. We need to feel the Presence of God. We need to always desire to do the will of God. We need to put God in all things that we do. We need to put God not only in our prayers and worship services, but in every aspect of our lives. We need to make every day of the week a day to praise and thank God. IF we have true devotion, our worship is sincere and heart felt.

The motivation and center of our devotion should be God’s holiness. This should be our focal point, and  it should set our hearts on fire for Him. The spirit of devotion permeates the saints in Heaven and pictures the worship of Heaven’s angelic beings. There is NO creature in Heaven that is without devotion. God is there, and His very Presence generates the spirit of reverence, awe and respectful fear. If we expect to be participate with those in Heaven after our arrival there, we must learn the spirit of devotion here on Earth before we get there. We should be devoted to God’s holiness. A devoted soul’s prayers will always reach His ears.
Devotion is a characteristic of saints. Job 23:12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food. [KJV]
Devotion is unreserved. Luke 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. [KJV]
Devotion is abounding. 1 Thes. 4:1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. [KJV]
Devotion is persevering. Luke 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. [KJV]
Devotion in life and death. Romans 14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. [KJV] Philip. 1:20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. [KJV]
Devotion is loving God. Luke 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. [KJV]
Devotion is serving God. Romans 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; (KJV)
Devotion is walking worthy of God. 1 Thes. 2:12 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. [KJV]
Devotion is doing all to God’s glory. 1 Cor. 10:31 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. [KJV]
Devotion is bearing your cross (self denial). Mark 8:34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. [KJV]

Words to Consider
Does your love and devotion for Almighty God cause you to consider all the great and wonderful things He has done for you? Do you praise Him for Who He is? Do you thank Him for all He has done for you in the past, and will continue to do in the future? If not, why not?

CHRIST IS . . .
Christ is the True Light, receive Him today,
He can cast out all darkness, in your day.
When we walk with Him, He will light our path,
And my friend, He can keep you, from God’s wrath.

Christ is the True Bread, on Him let us feed,
Spiritually, He is the Food we need.
We will never hunger, never e’er thirst,
If in our heart, we place Christ Jesus first.

Christ is the True Vine, from Him comes our pow’r,
In Him we must abide, ev’ry single hour.
We’re just branches, so helpless on our own,
Without Him we’re nothing, God’s Word has shown.

Christ Jesus is, the True Water of Life,
He can cast away, all our spiritual strife.
He gives to us, His Spirit to abide,
Assuring us of Heav’n, where we’ll reside.

Christ is the True Shepherd, of all God’s sheep,
Leading and guiding, He does tenderly keep.
Of all His flock, He’ll lose not ev’n one,
This wondrous Shepherd, who is God’s own Son.

A True Record of the Father, is the Son,
A record in place, ‘fore the world begun.
If we have Christ Jesus, Heav’n does await,
Reject Jesus, and it’s Hell’s one-way gate.

Christ is the True Witness, ‘tis O so true,
We MUST believe in Jesus, me and you.
Long ago, the prophet of Christ did speak,
The Words of Jesus, let us truly seek.

CHRIST IS:
The Lord Jesus Christ is SO many things! Have you ever considered all the tremendous "things" that He is? The above poem, and what I will bring below, does not even scratch the surface!

He is our Advocate:
1 John 2:1  My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: (KJV)
Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. (KJV)
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (KJV)
Hebrews 7:24-25  But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them
. (KJV)
Hebrews 9:24  For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: (KJV)

He is the Creator:
John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (KJV)
Hebrews 1:2-3 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (KJV)

He is the Almighty Judge:
